Hi guys it's friday again and it's Feature & Follow Friday brought to you by Parajunkee and AlisonCanRead. This week's question is: Back to school. Create a reading list for the imaginary English Lit class you’ll be teaching this semester.
This is a great question! If I were an English Lit teacher I would want my students to read books that are not necessarily chosen because they are classics but because I find that they would be able to take something from it.
Here's my reading list:
1.The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
(Great Coming of Age story, definitely something to learn from this book)
2. Bread Givers by Anzia Yezierska (Another great historical, cultural novel.)

3. When I was Puerto Rican by Esmeralda Santiago (I had to read this book in college, and I loved it so much I went and bought all of her other books. There are two other books that continue telling the story of her life. Just talking about it I want to get it out of my closet and re-read it.

4. Manchild in The Promised Land by Claude Brown (Great Biography)
5. The Help by Kathryn Stockett (A great story of standing up, and making change)
Great list, I would take your course just to read some new books! I have The Help on my list too! Old follower!
