"Love or Death? A simple question really. The choice seems obvious. But. What if you never knew love, what if your life was spent just trying to survive? What if you knew your fate before you were fully grown?

And then you died.

And you were given another chance. A better chance."

He doesn't have a name because he doesn't have an identity or one that he claims. He lives on the streets, stealing to get by then he robs a girl and in the process of robbing her saves her from getting pummeled by bus being killed instead.

(Before I say anything, let me just say how amazing the cover is. It's just perfect and totally fitting to the story) Okay go...

Piper works at a diner, and interns at a hospital. She has dreams and hopes and very little cash. On her way home she's nearly killed by a bus before a handsome stranger saves her. She can't get over it, so begins her search of him. She wants to repay him, in death if she can but he doesn't have a name so how will she ever find him?

He saved her from getting killed and now he's in limbo sort of. He finds himself in a room with a man eerily skinny, and creepy. He's offering him a new life, cars, clothes, and money something he's never had, and all he has to do is kill for him. Kill the girl whose life he saved, a girl who should have been dead and not him. That should be simple shouldn't it?

Imagine having a second chance at life. I know many people who would probably kill like "he" has to, to have it.

This book didn't move me in the way I see it has moved other people. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it. I liked it even. The writing was smooth and nicely paced. It just didn't wow me one way or the other but that does not a bad book make. It was as entertaining as I imagined but I had hoped for more. I'm greedy I guess. I always want more.

I liked the story idea it was somewhat new it was a little reminiscent of Unearthly by Cynthia Hand. It put me in the mind of that book although I haven't completed that book. I seen the similarities.

The story runs evenly which I appreciated. It didn't go up and down but it did leave something to be desired. I give this one a 3 out of 5 stars because it was likable but it wasn't great. I would love to see what direction the author decides to take with this series because seeing from the title. This is only the first in the series. I would like to see a twist in Piper and "Dex's story" if the author decides to continue with their story in the next books in the series.
